I went away away away this past weekend. A lovely and private beach house where the nearest neighbor lives a mile away. And the only noise you hear is the waves crashing to shore.

Given how all my projects are simultaneously coming to a head at work, and that I'm thisclose to totally losing my shit, a friend thought it a good idea to chillax for a couple of days.

On the drive to the beach house, I played lots of Todd Terje -- he rocketh my world -- and so we got into this whole long discussion about why he calls himself Todd Terje if his real name is Terje Olsen. So.... the way I remember it is that he adopted the moniker as a throwback to that legendary Brooklyn, New York producer/DJ Todd Terry (a.k.a. Todd the God) who helped define New York house music in the 1980s much like DJ Larry Levan did with Paradise Garage which, for all intents and purposes, created the concept of the modern dance club. Holy run-on sentence! So in other words, what Levan started, Terje continues. Go New York City!

*
But then again, I'm too lazy to actually verify any of this so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Ah, to have been a fly on the wall back in those days when all that incredible stuff was just being born into pop culture. Pretty amazing. Anyway, I've dug up some gems for you to enjoy:

Todd Terje - "Kul I Pul"
Radio Interlude/Joubert Singers - "Stand On The Word (Larry Levan Remix)"

By the way, the video for The Rapture's "Get Myself Into It" is hilarious and totally rocks. Watching the video treatments right now and I know that you're all gonna love it. As you should. *

Stacy: you smell like tuna. Shut up.
Caleb/American Athlete: your life will amount up to nothing more than mediocre at best with that kind of outlook. You're not even constructive in what you wrote.
Good tidings to you both.
