Static Discos is a label from Tijuana, Mexico (pronouced Meh-hee-ko if you're legit like me) with a roster full of artists that immerse themselves in the sexy world of minimal techno, electronic pop, kraut techno, indietronica,
elektrotecno, IDM, dub and digital jazz, and all that great glitchy stuff. Static Disos is also releasing a compilation CD called Lucky Stock with exclusives from Murcof, Fax, Childs, Duopandomix, and others. Download the entire comp here. And if you hit the label's website, you'll find lots more MP3s where that came from. Go buck wild. Below, some tracks from a few of their artists.

Also, many thanks to Howie for introducing me to Al Usher.
*
I knew he remixed Feist's "Inside And Out" with Ewan Pearson and Envoy's "Move On" but I never delineated it any further. But for some reason, it's all clicking now. Al Usher is one-half of Partial Arts (the other half being Pearson) whose Canopy (Out of the Loop, 2002) was a huge international boogie monster.
*
Go listen to "Lullaby For Robert" from his very excellent 2003 Slipshod EP because I've only heard it 138 times in the past two days. Full of bounce, fluid rhythms, and smooth synths, high-tech boogie cuts from this EP take flight in colors & shapes of house, disco-soul, funk, and in the case of "Lullaby For Robert," reggae-house. Perhaps if you like it (and why wouldn't you?), I'll post one of his remixes later in the week.
Thanks for the "mixtape" C...
Chromatics - "Physica (Demo)"
I LOVE that Al Usher song. Too bad you don't have it for DL-ing. If the whole EP is that good, I'm going to have to buy it. Asap.
Would you say that the EP is thoroughly good Sunny?

spoken like a true girl francesa. thanks for putting things into perspective. hahahahaha.
i like the reggae-house mixture that al usher uses for the track. whenever i see the word "reggae" i cringe. but this works! and quite nicely too. so how do i go about buying this?

focus, francesa, focus! we're here for the music. and to ocassionally pry into sunny's life.
music is good. funny. i didn't make the connection either -- though i definitely knew about partial arts before and of course knew about the fiest mix.
thanks for bringing a talented artist to the fore for us!

Music can noble hints impart,
Engender fury, kindle love,
With unsuspected eloquence can move,
And manage all the man with secret art.

Hey just a thought, you would probably get more readers if you interviewed controversial people for your blog. I really like this article. It contains a lot of useful information.
